    Upsampling question

Hi, I have a bunch of CDs I want to upsample from 16/44.1 ALAC to 24/44.1 (incidentally FLAC this time) for comparison's sake. So what I am doing is selecting the tracks in dbpoweramp, setting flac (compression level 5), then on to the DSPs, setting replay gain to 'track and album gain', and setting the bit rate to 24. That's all. Am I doing this right? I just wanted to conduct a little experiment and see if padding it out will increase 'headroom' and lead to any noticeable difference in listening at all. Please let me know if I'm doing this right.

    Re: Upsampling question

I can't answer your question, but as an aside, all the players I use automatically stream a 16/44.1 file as 24/44.1 (and the "extra" gets used as the space where digital volume adjustments can be made, etc.).
