Why Rip to WAVE

Since WAV and FLAC are both lossless and FLAC files are considerably smaller, is there any audio advantage in ripping a CD to WAV?

No. In fact, since there is no standard for tags in WAV files, there is a considerable disadvantage to WAV compared to FLAC.

But I think some people just can't conceive that a losslessly compressed file can sound the same as a file that's never been compressed. But they would be wrong.

The only advantage comes if one's player of choice recognizes WAV, but not FLAC.

Hi,

I once thought of ripping my CDs to Wav. But all you end up with is a file size circa 10 x times that of the original, and nothing else gained!
