Thanks garym, I try a new one out shortly ...

Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...

I am just ripping a CD and I went thru every track individually to check if there were any unwanted tags. The only one was 'IRSC' which I deleted from all tracks.

I used metadata from the manual-review page:
      Next, I'll investigate further ...

Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...

I did it fairly quickly so it's a bit rough & ready. But upon initial ripping there are NO duplicate or unwanted tags/fields:

You can always tell a rogue instantly because they are in block-capitals and the type-face is different.

        So that's one stage eliminated.

          In BATCH CONVERTER:
Information, Map, and Additions fields are empty.

DSP Effects (lower box) is also empty.

Currently in Deletions there is (still) ALBUMARTISTSORT and ARTISTSORT (because I removed these duplicate tags from a back-up drive/folder on Sunday [I think I also need to add: ALBUMSORT and TITLESORT to this list, so as to delete these additional unwanted tags which I only realized where there as of yesterday?]).

In Manipulation there are 'values' for ARTWORK dimensions and size; Force Embedded To Jpeg (box is checked); and everything else here is unchecked.

So that's how my BATCH CONVERTER 'ID Update' is set.

          I shall continue ...

          Cheers.

Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...

            Hi,

I ran the artwork conversion from folder to embedded in 'ID Tag Update'.

I think I converted it correctly it (in regards to the artwork) because the folder-artwork-Jpeg has now disappeared from the containing folder:

And NO additional duplications (eg. ALBUMARTIST) seem to have been created either; nor TILE and ALBUMSORT.

            Life is a mystery?!

            Paul

Odd given that you said before that those tags got added when you ran batch converter. Hmmm, maybe something about the Sony software you were using added those duplicate tags.

                Cheers Garym,

                I appreciate your help.

                It's a damn odd mystery!

Just before I do anything else, I really would like to check with you please (just to be doubly-sure), if I may:

when I want to use 'TD Tag Update' to REMOVE the duplicate/unwanted tags/fields from my ALREADY ART-EMBEDDED files, do I just delete the 'Import From' selection, and also uncheck the 'Force Embedded To Jpeg' box? You said earlier that if the wrong settings are applied then the art gets 're-embedded' again! As you can see in the screenshots, for the examples/tests this evening I have only used a single Madonna CD (rather than converting the whole 150GB - which took 6 and a half hours!, and still had ALBUMSORT and TITLESORT!).

Yes on your two questions about art. Can you post something showing all your tags on the madonna album. You didnt post a pic of this. Also post a pic of the contents of your deletion tab.

                    Thanks for the confirmation.

1- You mean the Madonna CD pre-ripped (ie. whilst sat in 'dBpa')?

2 - You mean the DELETIONS tab in 'ID Tag Updater'?

                      1. I Mean Madonna cd after ripping and again after running convert to process embedding art.

                        garym,

Here are a couple of quickies:

For some of the tags (eg. PRODUCER) I just wrote something generic as ripping/processing this CD was purely a means to an end.

I assume this is just after initial rip?

Those are PRE-rip (in 'dBpa) - though I don't think they change post-rip?

Dont know if they change. That&*8217;s what these tests are trying to figure out. That is, at what point do these extra tags get added. I&*8217;d want to see prerip, postrip, and post running batch conversion.
