Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...

    Hi,

I have re-copy&patsed the track titles back into German. It was just too complex translating it into English - partly because I don't speak German! Although I have tailored the track names to suit my taste (ie. adding 'Part' number; 'BWV' number; and track numbers in italics). But it took 2 hours just to complete 1 CD; and there are 3 CDs in this set!

    Cheers,

    Paul

Question Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...

    Hi,

I am stuck in finding who the PRODUCER was for:

Bach: Mass In B Minor (BWV 232)

I have searched various places but can only find, for definite, the recording engineers?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Paul

Question Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...

    Hi,

I am ripping the 'PJBE' CD:

The 'PJBE' are the ARTIST and ALBUMARTIST in my scheme. But every COMPOSER for each track is different. And so, for ALBUMARTIST would you change this for every track, please? The reason I ask is because for all of my other 'classicals' I have used the COMPOSER and the ORCHESTRA in this field. For eg.

ARTIST = Josef Haydn; Colonge Symphony Orchestra

If I were to follow suit then for the 'PJBE' CD I assume I would have to change the ARTIST tag each track? So:

Track-1: ARTIST = Andre Previn; Philip Jones Brass Ensemble

Track-2: ARTIST = Malcolm Arnold; Philip Jones Brass Ensemble

Track-3: ARTIST = Aaron Copeland; Philip Jones Brass Ensemble

    And so forth ...

    Would this be correct please?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Paul

    RE: post 679

btw - I am not ripping/classing this CD as a 'compilation'.

    Thanks.

I don't think there is really any other way of tagging the above; unless you omit the COMPOSER (in the ARTIST tag)?

Question Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...

    Hi,

I have just ripped this CD by Dallapiccola:

Damn thing has taken hours for many reasons!

In trying to fathom out the liner notes etc, it seems that there are 2 CONDUCTORS; 1 for the ensemble and 1 for the choir (on certain tracks at least - as much as I can gather).

In any case, would you place BOTH conductors in the same field such as:

CONDUCTOR = Hans Zender; James Wood

Zender conducts the orchestra while Brown conducts the choir.

The other option might be to create a CHOIRMASTER tag?

I need to get this particular CD rip over and done with as it's been a head-wrecker!

    Many thanks in advance.

I hope this is the right thread for this (my apologies if not)...so I want to get the CATALOGID and PUBLISHER metadata from Discogs when I rip a CD. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Question Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...

    Hi guys,

Getting back to ripping again now!

I have 3 CDs of Russian church choirs. The text, booklet, and all dBpa tags are all in Russian so I have no idea of the titles, album, etc!

How do you tag a CD of which you have no info., please?!

    (See screenshot.)

    Thanks,

    Paul

if you can paste the russian text, you can go to google translate and it will translate the text into english for you. Otherwise, I'd just make something up that makes sense to me and use that for tags.

    Garym,

It threw up nothing relating to church/religious music!

    Cheers.

That text (which is some form of non-Unicode Russian) needs converting to Russian (Cyrillic), before pasting into the google translator.

If you paste the text into a text file, then open the text file in Microsoft Word (selecting Cyrillic (Windows) when prompted), you should see the Russian text that you can copy and paste into the google translator.

    Thanks Mville.

I pasted the text into WordPad, then opened it with Microsoft Word (2007 - Student). But it did not prompt me to select Cyrillic.

It's no big stress though as I can live with a generic naming scheme for this particular CD.

    Cheers,

    Paul

I use File Explorer to create a New Text Document (which uses notepad and not word pad). When I open the text file in Word 2016 on a Windows 10 PC, it automatically opens the File Conversion window and automatically selects Cyrillic (Windows).
