"Rip to ._ files, rename album at end" - what does this mean?

Hi All,

What does the above and the new options in dBpa 16.x actually mean? Is there a benefit leaving it as "._" when ripping?

Does this come with the paid version?

It stops a media player such as iTunes form reading the files until they are ready.

So, just to clarify - other than that there is no other benefit than that? So if I don't rip into iTunes (or the Automatically add to iTunes folder) I can change this to write to file straight away, i.e. to .m4a?

You may find other cases where you wish to use this.

For me, it was a problem with foobar reading the metadata as soon as the file was created and that seemed to be locking the file which caused the metadata writes to fail occasionally. Since this flag was added, that problem has gone away.

I would leave it enabled unless it's actually causing problems for you.

I always rip to a stand-alone folder on my Mac (so no involvement from other pieces of software). I then drag the ripped folder into a separate drive for backup and then the original copy of the folder to iTunes). If no need to use this feature I will default back to the original dbpa setting of yesteryears.
