    Hi Mville,

I think it may have been because there were different Producers and Composers throughout.

At least it caught my eye and so hopefully it won't slip by me again. Every other CD seems to be teaching me something new about 'dBpa'!

Just another reason why one should always closely check all metadata/tags with every rip.
    Hi JH,

Yes, I am double checking everything now, thanks. And if need be, I just re-rip the CD over.

Is 'Illustrate' the company who have made 'dBpa', please?

    Thanks,

    Paul

    Hi Oggy,

Before ripping, within the TITLE of the double-CD, I deleted 'Disc 1' and 'Disc 2'; so that just the ALBUM name is present (ie. "Dark Magus"):

    Disc_1.png

It placed all of the tracks within one single folder. But now I have 2 x track 1's, 2 x track 2's, 2 x track 3's etc:

No doubt I must have cocked the job up again! Or else, could you RE-NUMBER the tracks (ie. 1 ~ 6)?

    Many thanks,

    Paul

Question Re: Ripping Level Question (help?)

    Hi Oggy,

Do you LEAVE any Meta-Data which is shaded/grey as it is, please? Obviously you have the option to delete it (via the small red 'X'):

    shaded.jpg

    Much appreciated.

I'd leave it, as I want, Miles Davis, under Davis, not Miles.

    Thanks a lot,

Do you think this is something I need to check with every rip? Or can I just trust/leave it to 'dBpa' and go with what it defaults to, please?

I never actually noticed this particular field until later this evening!

Did you number Disc 2, 2/2 and are you using garym's naming string?

Disc 1 is tagged right, so the only change for Disc to is 2/2, as long as you are using the correct string.

    Hi Oggy,

I set Disc 2 to '2/2'. I'm sure it's in the correct field:

    2_2.png

So must be something wrong with the string?:

    2_2.png

Maybe it's all just too complex for me and so I need to stick to ripping single CDs! lol

    Thanks.

I check everything on every rip. I'd rather make sure everything is correct before ripping so I don't have to do it again. I'm getting too old for that and besides, this is my third attempt at digitizing my music.

Now, there are instances where judicious metadata- or tag-editing will fix problems but, again, I'd much rather each rip is done correctly in the first place.

    Hi Paul,

That's not garym's naming scheme! You are not creating Folder for Disc.

Look at page 3 post 43. This creates the folder for Disc, and creates, in your case, Disc 1 and Disc 2, from your 1/2 and 2/2, which you, correctly used.

Question Re: Ripping Level Question (help?)

    Thanks very much Oggy,

I spent another hour on trying to get it right.

I took a screenshot of each stage of the process, but have not, as yet, tested it out on my Walkman. Hopefully it will work this time.

I really appreciate your kind help.

    Cheers,

    Paul

    Thanks a lot JH,

Well I have learnt - over the past fortnight - that checking and double-checking is imperative. Much better to get the job done correctly in one pass.

In the late 1990s, I ripped a ton of my favourite CD collection to Mini-Disc. It took months! And Sony MDs cost circa £5.00 per pop. You had to faff around shrinking the album sizes by copying your least favourite tracks in Mono! This was the only way the free up space.

But MD players were great for recording gigs and lectures.

You may or may not not (from my introductory thread) that I - unwittingly - originally ripped over circa 300 x CDs (using 'WMP') into 'WMA'. One of the biggest mistakes I ever made.
