Fixed volume normalize

I've got some very quiet jazz files I want louder and I want to use use a fixed gain. One of the files is a bit louder than the rest - if I want to add +8 gain to all tracks it will cause the peak of this one file to go beyond 0.
Will the program automatically keep it from clipping (meaning it won't add as much to that one track)? I didn't see a check box or anything to tell the program not to allow it to clip.

If you specify a fixed gain then that gain is applied always, even if clipping.
