    Re: HDCD not detected

At least it's good to know that the HDCD DSP should only be used if playing the ripped albums on a system or hardware that won't recognize a 16-bit audio file which has HDCD encoded in it.

I have several HDCD's which the software is not detecting as such, eg :

Neil Young - Silver & Gold
      Neil Young - Greendale
      Neil Young - Filmore East.

I know for certain Silver & Gold and Greendale are as I used to have an Arcam alpha8SE CDplayer which showed them as such with the red light. My current CD is the Arcam CD192, which will decode HDCD but does not have an indicator so I can not longer confirm for certain about others that should be.

any suggestions welcome... or a possible software update?

      cheers

I recently started ripping some HDCD and I've also ran across a couple that are only partially detected as HDCD where only some tracks are and some are not, or not detected at all in in the Track Details column.
However when I rip these CDs, the logs still shows that a HDCD track is detected for each track in the log after the rip. But I'm not sure what to make out of it. Are some HDCD encodings detected only during the rip and not the initial scan of the CD?
One example is the Rachmaninoff Hermitage Piano Trio from Reference Recordings 2019. No tracks are detected as HDCD during the initial scan of the disc, but all tracks are indicated as HDCD in the rip details log after the rip.
Another is Saint-Saens Symphony 3 also on Reference Recordings 2015, only the last 2 tracks are detected as HDCD during the initial scan of the disc, but again all tracks are indicated a HDCD after the rip in the rip details log.
