The problem I see here is 2-fold. Firstly, not knowing whether the Plextor drive is fully functional is a problem because whatever you try it MAY not work. Secondly, there is no official Windows 10 driver.

I would certainly check that the SCSI bus is correctly terminated. This is important when using SCSI. After that, I'd probably give up and buy a SATA optical drive.

OK, no luck this weekend. I decided to abandon SCSI, and found a nice modern SATA drive that should work well with my system; Pioneer BDP-S09J-X. I'm ready to quit messing around with hardware and get ripping!
