Hello Spoon,
Few questions about your DSD codec.
- When converting a dff/dsf file to wav (or flac) is there a kind of dithering applied? If so, what kind?
- In advanced options it says 96kHz is recommended?
I understand in regard to ultra sonic noise.
But it was my understanding that 88.2kHz is to be prefered because of the whole integer dividing of the original 2.8224 Mhz signal?
Why do you recommend 96kHz?
Regards,
Arnold.
No dithering as the destination is 24 bit, and dithering 24 bit has little sense.
The transformation is not a simple dividing, resampling does not work this way, so 88 would not give better results.

Thanks.
When doing a dff to flac conversion with DSD R2 and DSD R3, the rms and peak values from foobar's dynamic range meter are slightly different.
Did something change in the conversion from R2 to R3?
Different compilers can give slightly different floating point results.

Hi Spoon,
Does this mean the compiler is different in version R2 and version R3?
I noticed that the progress bar in version R3 seems to move very slow. The indication shows that the converion takes more then 20 minutes and the progress bar moves slowly.
Then suddenly the conversion is finished in about 6-7 minutes.
In version R2 the progress bar moves more even and estimated conversion time seems more accurate.
Yes different.

Ok, thanks. That wasn't mentioned in the changelog.
For what it's worth, I like this one sonically very much.

Hi Spoon
after dsd to flac conversion at the end of the some tracks there is very audible burst (same was with DSD Decoder R2).
Here is snapshot from adobe audition:

you can upload a file to dropbox and personal message me a link?

Thank you. Can confirm it's working good now with correct working progression bar.
Soundwise this codec is very good, the best I've heard so far. Thank you for this one.
So, quick question, if you have DoP files, where the DSD has been encoded in the PCM frames and presented as FLAC files, is there a method of extracting the DSD which can be saved in a DSF file format?
Thanks,
Simon.
