...Ripping Issue - 2 tracks - same artist - same song - different album

    hi

i have been running into a recurring problem - specifically when ripping "Best of" or "Compilations"

for example - i have a number of different Muddy Waters CDs - many of the same songs appear on more than one CD or, a CD may contain the same song but alternate take.

For some reason - CD ripper only copies one of the versions

to circumvent this - i have appended a unique identifies to the songs to avoid the duplication problem

is there a way to tell CDRipper - to rip everything?

    -Ethan

The CD ripper is ripping evertyhing, but the 2nd version of a song is overwriting the first version. You need to make sure you have unique file names. This won't happen if:

    1. make sure that you have each album in a separate directory (usually under artist directory). Eg.

    The Beatles\Abbey Road

    2. and make sure that you put track number in file name

    The Beatles\Abbey Road\01 - Something.flac

This way, even same song name on same album will not overwrite because track numbers will not be the same.

My dynamic naming string that takes care of all this (and compilations and multi disk) is:

    [IFCOMP]Compilations\[album] [IFMULTI] \Disc [disc][]\[track] - [title] - [artist][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album][IFMULTI] \Disc [disc][]\[track] - [title][]

lower left of ripping screen. row named naming. click on SET to right of that row.
row above naming is where you indicate your parent music directory.
