Thread: Album by release not functional in QNAP version?!

  1. #1

Angry Album by release not functional in QNAP version?!

    Hi,

I am new in this forum, but couldn't find any topic on this. I am currently running Asset UPnP in trial version on my QNAP. I'd like to get the albums sorted by release year, so I changed the entry "+/ Album" to "+/Album by release" in the browse tree. After that the album list is completely empty.

I also tried the same with installing Asset on my Mac Mini, choosing the same option, running Asset on a copy of the same files. This one worked exactly as expected, the albums are sorted by release date with the year in front of the album name.

Is the feature not functional in the QNAP version? I'd like to buy a license, but this is a key feature for me, besides the dynamic playlists...

    Thanks in advance...

Update: The Mac version also works fine when indexing the original files via network. Anybody using a QNAP NAS who can reproduce this?

There tends to be an update every 8 weeks.

    Thank you for your feedback.

Does the bug persist in the latest Asset R4.6.3 ?

There was a bug like this now long a go but as far as I know it is now fixed - Album by Release works fine on my test install of R4.6.3.
If it does not go away after updating to R4.6.3, please report so I will look into it again.

I also have the same problem with Album by Release not working plus a further problem where the first field keeps reverting to Artist / Album despite being changed to Album Artist.

Have had to revert to version 4.4, which is the last release that worked correctly.

Will these problems be fixed in the near future?

This is with the latest version on two different QNAP NAS and using both Linn and Naim apps.

Album by release works for me in 4.6.3 (TS-421 on QTS 4.2 with Heos 1.331.70)

I'm sorry but I cannot confirm "Album by Release" problems in the latest version (R4.6.3).

If you're still experiencing this bug after updating to the latest, please use "save configuration snapshot" feature and send the configuration dump to peter@dbpoweramp.com for analysis.
    Thanks.

Can you tell me what tag is read by "Album by Release" ? Is it "YEAR" or "RELEASE DATE" ?

Depends on audio format, for FLAC the standard for storing year is the RELEASE DATE tag.
