    Question OSX m4a FDK AAC

On OSX 10.11.1, dBPowerAMP 15.2 (1), selecting some files and Convert with dBPowerAMP, but I can't seem to select high-res VBR AAC LC anylonger. I used to be able to select ~350 or ~400 Kbps, not I can't get higher than 224 ...
    What happened?

VBR has a maximum of 224 (even on Windows), the CBR option allows upto 512kbps.

Cool Re: OSX m4a FDK AAC

Oh, you're right ... It seems my Mac-ripped files were 400 kbps VBR.

On Windows (nero aac enc) I used to have q=something setting that resulted in ~350 kbps ...

I really just want "almost lossless" AAC, smaller files than FLAC/ALAC ... What would you/someone recommend?

If you want high bitrates then use CBR.
