Problem with Asset 5
After upgrading to Asset 5, I click on Control and the only thing which works correctly is : Advanced search > Folders & Filename browsing, where I can see and open all the tracks and folders.
But no Artists, Genres, Composers, Conductors and so on : it's ''no item'' for each of them.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Asset and re-scanned : same thing. (But a second computer with Asset 4.1 has no problems at all).

The debug log was corrupted, there was text there but there is the character *23 written right through the log file.
This suggests something is very broken on your system, either malware, or a hdd fault. It is not possible for Asset to write such a character to the debug log, possibly this corruption also relates to the other issues you are having.
