DSD conversion to Flac - difference in volume

    Hi,

When using DBPowerAmp to convert the DSF files to Flac without any DSP effects, the resulting flac plays back several db lower i.e. the original DSF plays louder than the converted Flac file? I am not using any replaygain or anything.

I would have expected the difference i.e. realizing DSD's are typically produced with lower db.

I would like to have to convert keeping as close as possible to native DSD but with FLAC container.

    Thanks in advance,

    Yveke.

Try looking at volume normalization. It could be that your player has different audio paths for DSD or PCM.

my player is the Marantz AV7702 and no options for volume normalization are available or better yet I do not use anything like dynamic EQ or volume options.

So you think this is due to the player?

      Thanks again!

It is possible yes. I cannot be 100% sure though.
