    Re: help

Sorry there is no French manual.

For most people 5 compression is correct for FLAC.

Personal tag can be added using the CD Ripper >> Options >> Metadata & id tag

right at the bottom is 'Add Custom Tag'

How have you set naming? The default naming puts the tracks in Artist then Album folders.

To encode to FLAC, what to choose for future use with SONOS system?

              1. level 5 in FLAC is just related to the size of the file. All levels in FLAC are lossless and SONOS will handle any of them. I personally leave mine at "5" ( a good tradeoff on size of file and time it takes to encode the file).
              2. For multivalue tag for Genre, enter the Genres with ";" between them, e.g., Jazz;Vocal
after the FLAC rips you can edit the Genre tag with dbpa ID TAG UPDATE or use mp3tag. In mp3tag, separate the two genres with "\\", e.g., Jazz\\Vocal
However, I'm not sure that SONOS can handle multitag values. Someone else will have to chime in on this.

Hello. some details in relation to my question on
                "Genre".
Can I put a space between two tags?
                example
Jazz ; Vocal or may be better Jazz;Vocal ?
                thanks

Unfortunately, Emmanuel, I must warn you to NOT use multi-value GENRE tags for Sonos. :( It will not use them.

Sonos does not recognize the semi-colon separator, so it will not see "Jazz" and "Vocal" GENREs in your example above. And what's worse, it doesn't just use the one of them. Instead, it will create a new GENRE called "Jazz/Vocal," which will be separate from both "Jazz" and "Vocal" (for search purposes, etc).

This has been a problem for Sonos users for a very long time.

Keep in mind that the ";" or "\\" in mp3tag is just telling the system to create multivalues. In a FLAC file, if you look at the tags after the fact with multivalue it actually has TWO separate tag fields, looking like:

                    Genre: Jazz
                    Genre: Vocal

They are not actually two values within a single field.

What is the F drive? is it NAS or network drive? If so, perhaps you haven't setup permission to write to that drive.

                          Good evening,
                          it's an external hard drive.
I've been working on this one for a few days with no problem making changes.
                          Thanks

look at one of these file's properties and make sure it is not "write protected".
