OSX rips failing after one successful rip

Hi please advise; After one successful rip after upgrading to OS X version, I now find ripping is failing with errors thus:
Error converting to [Multi Encoder], 'Track 1' to '/tmp/no-filename-specified.ignore'
Apple Lossless: Error unable to open File '/Volumes/ALAC/Cluster/Cluster '71/[Track Number] Cluster - 15;33.m4a' for writing. [BeginConversion]
Error converting to [Multi Encoder], 'Track 2' to '/tmp/no-filename-specified.ignore'
FLAC: Error initializing FLAC encoder. [BeginConversion]
Apple Lossless: Error unable to open File '/Volumes/ALAC/Cluster/Cluster '71/[Track Number] Cluster - 7;39.m4a' for writing. [BeginConversion]
Error converting to [Multi Encoder], 'Track 3' to '/tmp/no-filename-specified.ignore'
Apple Lossless: Error unable to open File '/Volumes/ALAC/Cluster/Cluster '71/[Track Number] Cluster - 21;17.m4a' for writing. [BeginConversion]

any ideas as to why this might be? Previously rips were fine under another windows netbook using same DVD drive?
    Thanks
