    Asset Not Detecting a Change

    Spoon,

Having not encountered any problems with Asset on a PC, I have now had a problem with Asset not detecting a change made in an album title. Specifically, I abbreviated the title of an album to include "MVmnts." as an abbreviation for Movements. I corrected the upper case "V"so the corrected album title contains "Mvmnts." Asset will not detect this change. Can you please tell me why Asset is not picking up the change and whether their is a way to make Asset pick this up?

    Thank you,

    Tom

You have tried a Rescan (Detecting Changes) from Asset configuration?

Yes, Mrs. Spoon. I have done this several times.

Try a rescan all, if this does not pick up the change, it suggests that the files are still tagged somehow the old way.

    Spoon,

I have done this multiple times and even changed the words to fool the system and then tried to go back. I can return to the original full word in the title of the album, but I cannot get a corrected abbreviation with a lower case "V". Please note that the track titles (file) titles label as typed, but the album title (folder title) does not.

    Thank you,
    Tom

How are you editing the id tags?

I am closing all open associated files and folders and editing the folder name by opening the folder and then highlighting all files in the folder and then going to "edit-IF tsg" and then highlighting the album title and editing.

    Spoon,

I have one file on my desktop that is too large to e-mail. How do I upload this to your Dropbox?

    Thank you,

    Tom

The metadata looks correct. I suggest remove the whole album from your music collection, then do a refresh all, when browsing there should be no album with this name, once it is verified you can add the album back.

    Spoon,

I did as you recommended. In fact I went through to re-read all cycles. I thought things worked, but it did not. I am right back to 'MVmnts." showing in the album title. I have edited several thousand albums and I have never experienced anything like this. Do you have any other ideas?

    Thank you,

    Tom

So when you remove the album, it is removed from the listing?

Try adding just track 1 of the album back again.

Re: Asset Not Detecting a Change

    Spoon,

I decided to remove the album from my music folder, do a read-refresh in Asset and re-rip the album with the album named typed correctly as I abbreviated this. Naturally, it worked perfectly. I just could not fool any more as I have hours trying to make this wok and it took ten minutes to redo all.

    Thank you for your help.

    \Best regards,

    Tom
