CD Ripper will not "open" CD

I use DBPoweramp to rip CDs for my sonos system, converting them to flac files. However I have recently bought 3 CDs that DBPoweramp will not even open. The files are .cda. I suspect that I need a different codec, if I am correct which one?

    Hey Mark,

my suspect is that these discs are copy protected.

By not open, you mean when you run CD Ripper, it is not showing any tracks?

It doesn't get that far! I load the CD click on the disc loading icon and it keeps saying retry.

If you look in File Explorer and try to open the CD drive, if it lists nothing then your CD drive is not recognizing the disc, this is at a drive level and no application would be able to do anything about it.

Sorry I did not mean it quite that way. The drive recognises the disc, lists all the tracks and I can "play" it on the computer but DBPoweramp will not list the tracks nor will it Rip the CD.

              and select 'Defective by Design'
