New Music Folder Name Does Not Change in Asset

    Spoon,
Happy New Year to you and to yours!

Sometime ago you advised me to shorten the music folders names so as to shorten their impacts on the total number of characters in Windows 7, i.e. need less than 255 in path. I did this and I have twice rescanned the music folder containing close to 8,00 albums. Everything seems to have worked perfectly except that the old folder name is still showing in Asset, namely UPnP RA-DAW-365 rather than UP nP Z. I have named the main drive folder Z and the network share file m.

As always, thanks for your help.

    Best regards,
    Tom

Try doing a Refresh All rescan.

          Spoon,

If I understand your question correctly, I use only LINN Kinsky for Windows (7) and \\Z\m\ is typed into Audio Library where RA-DAW-365 used to be.

          Thanks again,

          Tom

If you select without typing, you go Audio Library >> Asset >> ?

              Spoon,

I am sincerely sorry, but I do not undwestand what you are trying to tell me to do. Do I not have to fill in the Asset Audio Library at the top of the edit menu? How else does Asset know the music folders and files?

Again thank you and please pardon my ignorance.

              Best regards,

              Tom

I ask about how you select in Kinsky, which path is browsed? Advanced Search >> File and Folder Browsing?

                  Spoon,

I follow: Library>Asset UPnP>Artist/Album or Album or Title or Composer, I hope that I am adequately answering your question to me. If not, I will try again.

Thank you and have a great day.

                  Regatds,
                  Tom

Folder names are not used, the ID Tags are used to present those values, ID Tags are embedded into the music files.

                      Spoon,

My ID Tags are: Artist, Title, Album, Track, Year, Genre, Album Artist, Composer & Disc. Is this what you seek?

Changing the folder name has no bearing on the information shown, you have to edit the ID Tags to change an artist or album name.

                          Spoon,

I guess I shall have to live with the wrong name as I am not about to edit several hundred thousand ID Tags.

                          Thanks,
                          Tom

Install the latest test version of perfecttunes, you can globally change a single artist, or genre.
