    File naming help needed

    Hello all!

I'm new here and I read the faq about file naming but still I don't really understand it :|
I'd like to name my mp3s this way...

    No Compilation CD, no Multi-CD
Michael Jackson\Thriller\06 - Michael Jackson - Billie Jean

    Multi-CD
    Michael Jackson\Thriller - Disc 1\06 - Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
    or
    Michael Jackson\Thriller\Disc 1\06 - Michael Jackson - Billie Jean

    Compilation CD
Various Artists\Thriller\06 - Michael Jackson - Billie Jean

    Both Compilation CD and Multi-CD
    Various Artists\Thriller - Disc 1\06 - Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
    or
    Various Artists\Thriller\Disc 1\06 - Michael Jackson - Billie Jean

Should I include the disc number on album name or put it to seperate folder?
    Which one is better?

And could someone post me the code, please

Welcome You've come to the right place....the forum community here will be happy to help get you up & running.

There is no "better" or "right" with something like that. It's all a matter of personal preference, in terms of how you like/want files organized on your hard drive. File names and organization have no bearing at all on how the music is navigated by (and displayed on) your playback devices....it's the embedded metadata (tags) which determines that. If subfolders by disc is a more intuitive organization for you, by all means, do it that way. If not, don't. It really makes no practical difference.

        Thanks for helping me!
Today I will start ripping ~1000 CDs to FLAC
Any estimates how many CDs/hour I can rip?

Give yourself lots of time. Many long-time users will cite the same mantra....do it once and get it right. In the end, you actually save time by taking more time up front to not just get a good, accurate rip....that's the fastest, easiest part....but to ensure your metadata is accurate and consistent. If you try to rush and rip a 1,000 CDs as fast as you can, I can virtually guarantee that your digital music library will be a frustrating mess that's hard to use and navigate. And that it'll take a lot of time to go back to find & fix all the tagging errors....

Metadata. Metadata. Metadata. Do it once. Get it right.

            Totally agree.

Rip a couple of single artist CDs, a couple of various artist CDs and if you have them, a couple of classical CDs.

As far as you can, get the tags and naming scheme right in CDRipper, so that the Albums, once ripped, appear in your audio library player/server software as you desire. You may need to re-rip these CDs, making tweaks to your tagging workflow.

Finally, when your happy, go ahead and rip 1000's of CDs.

              Thanks again!
I tested few CDs and everything looks good on iTunes, foobar2000 and my streamer.
Tagging Classical CDs (I'm glad I have less than 20 of those) is bit difficult. It's a mess
Any advice how to tag those?

Yes, it is difficult to tag Classical music. I guess, in the end, it is down to personal preference.

Have a look here at some discussion/suggestions:

                  One more question
Should I check "Read into Lead-in or Lead-out"?

These are my settings. Do they look OK?

When you rip a CD are you getting any AccurateRip matches? If yes, then the settings are ok.
