Asset on qnap 119p+ freezes quite frequently

    Hi
I use a registered version of asset on my qnap little server. Quite frequently (1-2 times a week perhaps) asset is unavailable as a choice from my naim nstream app.
Logging in asset ip address from desktop browser in not possible either (page unavailable message appears). Rebooting qnap wakes asset again (or alternatively by stoping and starting asset through qnap web interface).
Any ideas how to resolve this issue?

When this happens look at the QNAP control panel, you are looking at available memory, keep an eye on this value as the week progresses.

      Now:asset unresponsive
      qnap memory use:101MB/Free 402MB.
Also swap memory is entirely unused: 517MB
So, i think is not related to any memory shortage.

Re: Asset on qnap 119p+ freezes quite frequently

        Open Qnap web interface
Click on the Control Panel icon
On left menu, click on the System Settings (which will expand it into a sub-menu)
On the System Settings sub-menu, click on System Status
Page will open with 5 tabs; click on right one labelled Resource Monitor
From left menu, click on Process

See if asset is listed normally (so you know what to look for) and when no music can be played.

Re: Asset on qnap 119p+ freezes quite frequently

I have the same issue with my 64 bit Linux installation since I use AssetUPnP (~ four months). Around two times a week AssetUPnP freezes (doesn't respond to requests, doesn't write any messages into its log files).

My standard procedure is "killall AssetUPnP" (four processes) followed by a restart...

I can send more detailed information next time I face that.

Re: Asset on qnap 119p+ freezes quite frequently

I'm also seeing this behaviour. Sometimes more frequently than above though, with failures several times in a day causing me to fallback to alternatives. This is on a TS412, latest firmware, Asset V4.3. Sometimes the web configuration service is available but upnp server is not, other times both are unavailable.

I'm trying an uninstall/reinstall first, but if that doesn't solve it happy to provide any diagnostics.

                Do you need more information?

It does happen more frequently too. Perhaps this relates to the number of requests served or amount of data delivered - don't know.

                    Hi,

I have the same problem with my TS420, latest firmware. Asset freezes frequently. Up to now it was always possible to restart from the web configuration page, but the failures occur too often (daily). Thanks for your support!

                        Hi Peter,

I installed the version you recommended. Unfortunately the server crashed again some minutes ago - at least it is not visible any more to any control point. The web GUI is still available. The QNAP itself runs without any problems (also checked the resources which are sufficient). What I observed is that the response of Asset gets slower and slower before it totally freezes.

For now I will try to switch to another UPNP server to see if it will also cause problems. However, any ideas would be welcome.

                        Thanks,
                        Axel

Sorry to hear about it. Good news is that it happens on my development setup also now so we'll get to the bottom of this.

                            Disregard the above.

A fix is being tested on my QNAP now and will be made available as soon as possible. Thank you for your attention.
