    burner speed

I have a 48x burner, but the only options listed on the CD writer are 1x, 2x and 4x. How do I burn at the full speed of my drive?

What is the maximum recommended speed for the CDR/RW you are using? This could have a bearing on the maximum speed you can use.

I have also noticed that some CD writer software will not allow a speed greater than x4 if there isn't a disc in the drive at the time you select the speed.

OK, thanks, I think you're right that it might be the media itself, it was an RW disk. I'll try some other disks. Thanks
