When converting FLAC to m4a (AAC) what is the gapless info?

I'm seeing that once I convert FLAC files into m4a (AAC) it includes a Gapless tag of some sort.

What exactly is it? Surely it's not Gapless info embedded into the FLAC because Mp3tag shows nothing when I check the FLAC. Just slightly confused here.

lossy encoders such as mp3 or aac have an encoder delay, that is an encoder introduced delay, the gapless info tells a compatible player how to skip this delay.
