    CD Ripper Doesn't Find CD

My CD Ripper can't find the CD.

The CD is downloading to the computer as I am able to play it.

CD ripper is looking at the right place but it says to load the CD. I have tried the reload and the refresh but I get the same message. I upgraded to R15 as a last ditch effort but it is exactly the same.

    Any suggestions, thank you

Did it used to work previously? try right clicking on CD Ripper >> Run as Administrator

if this works it suggests some security software is blocking the program.

      Hi Spoon,

      Wow, that was beyond fast!

      Yes it worked before.

I ran as administrator, same problem.

I turned off my firewall, no difference.

          Hi Spoon,

          No Change.

Just to make sure that I understood you:

          CD Ripper>>
          OK

          Options>>
Top toolbar, 5th icon from left

In pop up, down to CD Rom heading, down to Read into Lead-in or Lead-out, go just below to Communications, to the right click onto SCSI Pass through (SPT)

Scroll down to Windows Internal [for limited accounts] click on,

          Restart.

          No change.

I tried to also click onto the Read into Lead-in or Lead-out box.

          No change.

I put it all back to where it was.

I USB plugged in an external optical disc player. It also played fine. In CD Ripper I selected that CD Drive at the bottom left of the page in the scroll down options but dBpoweramp ripper didn't find the CD.

That is correct, you have an internal CD drive also?

              Hi Spoon,

Yes, I do not normally use an external drive, just the internal SSD drive that comes with the Macbook Air. I only tried the external to trouble shoot to see if I could find where the problem was when your suggestion in post *4 did not work.

Since you have confirmed that I did do your suggestion in post *4 properly, I am now at a total loss.

Sorry, I can't find the edit function for my post *7. I am new to this forum. I was typing on my Macbook air, but the computer which I have the dBpoweramp CD ripper on is my old Dell XPS with an internal DVD Drive that shows up as E: [Matshita -DVD+RW UJ-857G] . I do not normally use an external hard drive for that computer. I just used it to see if by off chance it would work.

                  Try this:

                  Close CD Ripper

Then open dBpoweramp Config >> Music Converter

enable the last debug option. Click Ok, then start CD Ripper, make sure the correct drive is selected, click the refresh button once, then close CD Ripper, a debug log will show in notepad, please post the contents here.

                    HI Spoon,

Thanks for your reply. Sorry I was away for a week, hence the delayed reaction.

I believe that I followed your instructions to the letter and got the result that you asked for, but just in case being a computer neophyte I listed my steps and then the Notepad result.

                    I did the following:
                    1. From scratch I go to All Programs.
                    2. Click on dBpoweramp for a drop down menu.
                    3. Click on Configure dBoweramp. I get a window requiring permission to continue, which I do.
                    4. A window pops up headed dBpoweramp Configuration, with 3 sub labels: Versions, Codecs, and Music Converter
                    5. I click on Music Converter. I scroll to the very bottom and click on Music Converter Debug and clicked OK. Screen went away.
                    6. Opened CD Ripper. The only drive available is the internal: E: [Matshita -DVD+RW UJ-857G] with a Retry box and the main menu saying to <Insert Audio CD>
Clicked the Refresh button once. A box briefly showed up saying something like rescanning?? The CD was spinning for some time
7 After several minutes I closed CD Ripper, went to All Programs >> Accessories >> Notepad, and DBG3561.tmp - Notebook came up following:

                    Using SCSI PassThrough [clCDDA::SetCommunication]

I only use this computer for dBpoweramp so I have no internet security.

I went to the Windows Security Center and turned off Firewall, I could not figure out how to turn off MS Virus/Spyware/malware protection and internet security options, so I set them at the lowest settings. And Windows Defender is off.

I retried the CD ripper and Refreshed but nothing.

Are you able to re-install the OS? I am sure there is something on this system blocking the reading of the disc.

                            Hello Spoon,

Before I look into that, which scares me, does it make sense that that "there is something on this system blocking the reading of the disc". when I insert the disc autoplay comes up and plays the disc just fine. It that not "reading the disc".

Sorry if I am being ignorant here, I am just trying not to jump into the deep end.

                            Thanks,

I have never really come across something like this in 12 years, so it is strange. That is why I suggest an OS reinstall if an option.
