Conversion from Wav to Flac generates no music, just white noise

I just tried to convert some wav files to flac using db, but the resulting files play back only as white noise. Used the 'verify' option for conversion. Tried playback under VLC, Windows Media Player, and JRiver Media Center. All play white noise, no hint of music.

The original wav files are stereo, 16-bit, 44.1k, and they play back on all the players above. Wav format appears to be valid.

What could cause this?

Try converting Wave >> Wave (in a different folder), is there white noise?

Which version of dBpoweramp do you have?

That was a good idea. But it's now even more confusing: The converted wav files play fine. I thought I'd take the next logical step. Presuming that db wouldn't create a format that it couldn't convert, I used the newly created wav's to generate another set of flac files. Those again, are white noise.

And to top it off, I thought I'd create a CD using the converted wav files (Not the flac files that don't play). I generated a cue with ImgBurn. Though the original wavs play back directly, the generated CD is white noise! I have used ImgBurn to create CDs from wav's before, and it has always worked well. I can't think of anything that would cause this.

The db version is current. I just DL'd the eval.

Take one of the FLAC files which has white noise and convert to Wave with dBpoweramp, then play in your players, does it have noise?

Spoon I have tried this one too. I have converted those but still white noise is there..., Can you tell me which version you are using....?
