Either the files are read only, or some other program has them open.

Try to move a flac file to your music folder (on c drive), can you edit the tags?

Then it is a permissions issue on your other drive, your user account will not have security rights to write to the files.

What security software do you have? something might be limiting dBpoweramp from writing to files.

it always worked fine with earlier versions of eset but sure enough I disabled protection and was able to edit the tags....eset says my only option is to exclude dbp from protection....

or I guess I have to exclude the external drive and music folders from protection? seems odd I can move a flac file to the C drive, which uses the same security, and it works fine...

arrrrrgh! even after excluding db and the entire M drive from eset i am again unable to edit the files. adjusted permissions so that everything was permitted. 2tb M drive took an hour to update permissions but still cant edit the tags...this is probably not a db issue and something in my system but posting here in hopes someone may have experienced this and can offer suggestions. thanx, MCapture3.JPG

PS the issue is only affecting the FLAC files.......most of the files on the 2tb drive are FLAC but i found a few mp3 files on the drive and they edit fine...i'm confused.
