Yes slimserver.pl is nothing to do with asset.
A QNAP is probably 100x slower than your PC, it might only have 512MB of memory and a ARM CPU.

Thanks
Indeed, it does have 512MB of memory and an ARM CPU
Presumably some of the intel QNAP boxes would be comparable
kg648,
What audio formats do you have in your music library?
It would be most useful if you could enable logging in Asset configuration, keep Asset running with high CPU usage for a minute and email us the logs [ http://www.dbpoweramp.com/email.htm ].
Thanks.

Hi
It appears you are right, it is when the library rescans - it has long completed the full rescan I assume it is just rechecking for new content but when this happens it occasionally drops a few times in a track.
It does appear to be checking quite frequently though. - i'll e-mail the log anyway but obviously I guess it should not affect streaming a file to one device whilst doing a rescan? or is my qnap simply just not powerful enough for what I am expecting? it's only job is to stream music and run the array.
Log should be in your inbox if that is any use.

Thanks for the feedback. Even if the CPU usage occurs only during rescans, this situation is unacceptable and is being looked into.
Looking at the log, there is 100's of requests for:
http://192.168.1.16:26125/aa/25076/3...er.jpg?size=90
That is the control point or player constantly requesting the same album art and requesting that Asset resizes the art to 90 pixels. What player and control point are you using, because it should not be doing this.
