taking forever to rip under Windows 8
I'm ripping CDs to FLAC files (fastest setting) under Windows 8 on my brand new super fast PC (i7 4770, 4 ghz) but DBAudioConverter is taking FOREVER.
It hangs on either the 2nd pass or re-rip on the last 3 or 4 tracks.
Is this a known problem or do I not have things set up correctly?

Re: taking forever to rip under Windows 8
Set the encoder to 'Test Conversion' and the ripping mode to 'Burst', does it rip fast on that problem disc?

Re: taking forever to rip under Windows 8
thanks for the reply. Though, where exactly do I access the encoder to 'Test Conversion' and the ripping mode to 'Burst'? What menu? Where?

Re: taking forever to rip under Windows 8
CD Ripper, the encoder you choose is on the encoder tab.
Ripping mode to burst, click the options button.

Re: taking forever to rip under Windows 8
II found the test option but could not find the Burst mode under the Options button. All the options I had there were Ripping priority.Normal>below normal>Idle.

Re: taking forever to rip under Windows 8
Click the main button, not the down arrow for options.

OK, thanks. Wow..that wasn't obvious...lol
Running Test/Burst now.

Re: taking forever to rip under Windows 8
It made it through with those settings. I'm attempting another rip to FLAC using the BURST mode instead of secure....Seems to go faster and not get stuck like before. Just curious. What are the recommended settings? I have about 600 more CDs to rip...

Re: taking forever to rip under Windows 8
You need to find which secure option is causing it to be very slow (perhaps overread is checked? or c2 pointers? ultra can be disabled).

Re: taking forever to rip under Windows 8
OK, here are my current settings:
Pass 1 = AccurateRip is verified
Pass 2 = Limit Drive speed = MAX

Indiv Bad Frames / Max Re-Reads = 34 times
Set Drive speed = MAX
Drive Read Cache 1024KB
Clear Read Cache with FUA = unchecked
C2 Pointers for Error Dect = unchecked
8kB Transfers = unchecked
Secure Rip Alert = no abort
When have to re-rip = no abort
After ripping a Track Fro = no abort
Interpolate unrecoverable Frames = CHECKED
Mark track as Error if insecure = UNCHECKED
Cancel Disc ripping after any insecure track = unchecked
Secure extraction log/ Write to file = unchecked
Add to info log = checked

Re: taking forever to rip under Windows 8
Looks good, it should not rip slow with those settings.
