M3U playlist - line length and missing tracks

I keep missing one or more tracks in my playlist. Not sure why. It could it be that the number of characters in a line is a limiting factor.
I reduced the size of the folder names and then suddenly the file appeared and played, but others just show the file name, no meta data is there.
I have stopped, started, rescanned Asset... but would like to be sure that a playlist really works before moving completely over to Asset
    Any ideas.. ?

File paths (including filename) should be less than 260 characters.

OK thanks Spoon. I looked further and I think I solved it. I saw "EF BB BF" at the start of the playlist when viewed with a Hex editor. Normally that should n't really have made a difference (I think) it is a just a Byte Order Mark (BOM). However I set the playlist format to M3U ANSI in MusicBee and the BOM disappeared and the playlist works fine in the DENON AVR- X1000....
