Asset UPNP 4.1 crashing on windows 7 64 machine

    Hi,

I have dutifully searched the asset forum for any posts that look like my problem (used windows 7 as the search term). It looks like no-one else has this issue so I guess the problem is probably NOT asset, but I thought I'd ask if anyone can make sense of the following info that is presented every time Asset crashes on my windows 7 64 bit machine.

Asset will run fine for days, then for no reason I can think of Windows throws this error :

Re: Asset UPNP 4.1 crashing on windows 7 64 machine

    Greetings --

I have similar problem running Asset in a Win 7 64 machine except that instead of crashing, Asset stops running and disappears from the listing of network media devices. There is no event log showing what happened. I have run Asset in local account and service modes and with various network settings with no improvement. Rebooting solves the problem for variable lengths of time and without obvious intervening events on the the computer Asset disappears again. The data is on a Netgear ReadyNAS which dBpoweramp and Asset see without complication. I can always access the flac files using an Oppo 105 over the network.

    Thanks

    Rob

If you look in Task Manager on the computer which Asset runs (click the box to show processes from all users), does it show asset still running?

Thanks for reminding me about the Task manager.

Asset is still running in the Task Manager as two processes, Asset-uPNP.exe *32.

The Asset UPnP service is shown with a "stopped" status. If I restart Asset in the config window, the status remains "stopped."

When I looked back at the process tab after restarting Asset, there is now one Asset process, Asset-uPNP.exe *32

If there are 2 processes running, this is how Asset operates, it is running normally. Possibly your security software blocks Asset after a period of time.

Wanting this to be an Asset problem, I bit my tongue hard when reading, "Possibly your security software blocks Asset after a period of time."

After all, I had already disabled the firewall so what could anti-virus/mal-ware software could do? Well, I disabled the remainder of BitDefender, started Windows Security; Asset has never stopped working.

    Thanks!
