Slow ripping withe win 8 and NB11

    Hi all
I have just put a small ripping station together consisting of a new windows 8 machine running batch ripper and a nimbe NB11.
my problem is that it starts of ripping very slow may be 1 to 2 times speed then speeds up may be half way through the disc this verys from disc to disc.
The internal drive in the PC does not do this it is fast from the start.
Has anyone came across this before ?

Do other applications rip slowly with the nimbie drive?
Have you tried setting the 8KB buffer size option for the nimbie drive?
Are there cdrom errors in the Event Viewer under Windows Logs/System?

Going to try other apps now.
there are no cdrom errors I can see.
the 8KB buffer size option for the nimbie drive your referring to is that in "secure options!" under "c2 error pointers for error detection" ? if so no will try it.

        Correct.

        Other ideas:
        - Disable C2 pointers if enabled.
        - Try Burst ripping only.
        - Try Windows Internal API instead of SPTI.
        - Look for interfering filter drivers attached to the driver stack for your optical drive (Imgburn has a built in tool to do this).
        - See how other drives behave with dbpoweramp.

I have the same exact problem except I'm on windows 7. When I turn the 8KB buffersize option on, my NB11 is even slower to rip. Even with new CDs the speed only goes to 2x. I use the burst option for ripping. No C2 error option.

I don't think my NB11 is broke because on this one CD towards the end of ripping it the NB11 will get to 20x and 30x speed.

Please help me out. I don't know how to use windows internal API or look for interfering filter drivers.

Disable C2, it might not be supported correctly in the drive, and keep Secure ripping mode enabled.

I don't use C2 and I tried using the secure ripping mode. Still the same problem. When I use the 8kb buffersize option the NB11 won't even start to rip after 10 minutes.

Could my NB11 be broke? Does the QQboxx Pro 3 need to be installed? I'm totally lost here. In the manual. It says 'Browse to the installation CD and choose ACAL764.inf as the device driver'. I'm not sure if that's the problem because I don't know how to do that.

Now I'm trying to test the nb11 with iTunes but it says 'conflict with other application' in QQripper menu.

You do not need the 8KB option.

With the 8kb option disabled it takes the 3 minutes for the CD to start ripping then its strictly at 2x speed. With 8KB option enabled it won't start ripping even after 10 minutes with the same CD.

In step 7 of the operation manual for Device Driver Installation it says "Browse to the installation CD and choose ACAL764.inf as the device driver". Do you think that could be the problem? Because I don't understand that part or how to do that.

3 minutes to start does not sound right. Try uninstalling everything you have installed relating to the NB11, then run:

...also how to do a full reset of dBpoweramp? (if dBpoweramp crashes for some reason) Where does dBpoweramp save its files / settings? It is installed to c:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp or c:\Program Files (x86)\Illustrate\dBpoweramp The 64 bit version of dBpoweramp is installed to: c:\Program Files\dBpoweramp It

Restart computer, install dBpoweramp and try to rip a CD to 'Test Conversion' as the encoder, how long does it take?

I haven't tried the the Test Conversion but I already re-installed everything and tried using the NB11 with iTunes. The problem is exactly the same with iTunes. Would you still recommend the test conversion? My NB11 might need to be replaced I think.

It is worth doing the Test Conversion.

I uninstalled everything related to NB11 and cleared dbpoweramp on my system through that link. I then reinstalled everything now when I click on 'rip' with the test encoder I get a message 'Console Window Host Has Stopped Working' message. Then another message 'Load.exe - Application Error. The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142).

This time the NB11 won't even load the disc. Please help.

When I turned the NB11 off and back on. Then try to rip again with test encoder I get a BSRB_SRV.Exe has stopped working message. Then the NB11 won't even load the disc.

                              Try reinstalling the Nimbie software.
