Re: Encoding Speed Suddenly Extremely Slow

I'm having exactly this problem also, started at the weekend. I am ripping directly to a NAS, but then I've always done that and have been through hundreds of CDs with no previous issues.

    Very odd...

I just noticed I'm on release 14.4 still, so will update to 15 to see if that helps. I will also check the NAS, see if it needs any updates.

It can never realistically be the program doing the writing, because if we had code which went slow, it would affect people writing to local hdds also.

When I try to rip Machine Head "The More Things Change" the ripping speed is X0.1
        Is this normal?
        Should I wait?
        What should I do?

Certain brands of CD drive can be very very slow on certain discs, such as sony optiarc drives. I have seen them drop to a 0.1x ripping speed. It is the drive, not software which does this.

The disc is maybe copy protected because I can't even listen to it with my computer.
But I can listen to it with my home stereo.
