    Windows 8 and music converter

    Back again -
For some reason Win8 will not allow the right click feature of MC to work once I navigate to the desktop.
But I do get multiple cores working.

Win8 forces me to restart MC each time I switch albums - I have to go to the taskbar and click on the icon - once I do a conversion Win8 closes MC and I have to restart MC from the taskbar for the next album.
    Any Thoughts?

When I do conversions I always have a folder with the album name nested inside the original album folder to serve as a home for the new MP3s.

I have tried pausing the conversion process and using one of the setting (do nothing) and I still closes the others would slow the process even more.

Is there a way to a. make the right click feature work? and b. keep MC open in windows 8 after the conversion.

If not, then since music is a hobby it will be time to rip :cry:out this HDD and put in a new one and install WIN7

You could run Batch Converter, which will stay around after a conversion completes.

      Dear Spoon,

Not with my Win8 install - batch convert just sits there and does nothing. perhaps I don't know how to use it but when I press
convert for a group of album folders that I "checked" nothing happens it just sits there.

Do you have a link for using batch converter?

When you click convert in batch converter, the music converter options page shows where you select the encoder.

Perhaps you have security software which is blocking dBpoweramp....

Our testing of dBpoweramp on a fresh Windows 8 install, it operates 100% as normal.

Having trouble with the install also. Windows 8 Pro (upgrade version) plus Kasperski Anti-Virus. I have tried installing with Kaspersky on and disabled. Makes no difference. I can't get the CD ripper to install at all, and the software will only run very slowly, if at all, if I first copy the tracks to the hard disk then convert them.

                    Messages like:

Error converting to FLAC, 'L:\Track01.cda' to 'C:\Users\XXX\Music\YYY\ZZZ\Track01.flac'
Unable to match CD drive to file.

Error converting to FLAC, 'C:\Users\XXX\Music\YYY\ZZZ\Track01.cda' to 'C:\Users\XXX\Music\YYY\ZZZ\Track01.flac'
CD Audio files can only be read from CD Drives (not .cda file copied to hard disc) [clDecoder::Open]

                    Am I missing something?

You cannot copy .cda files to the HDD as they are virtual files (1KB each) the real track on a CD would be 30,000KB
