Thread: No CD Drive Found

    Re: No CD Drive Found

    i am still lacking of a solution. Does no one has an idea how to resolve the issue that my external drive is not properly detected by db? Windows explorer identifies the drive and can also identify the CD which is in. So, in general it's working. Just db can't identify it. Does anyone has experience with external DVD drives?
    Thx in advance

    Your drive returns a type of 4, which means a network shard drive. You need to configure the drive to appear as a real drive not virtual one, the option to do this would be in your mac, not on windows

    It will be an option in parallels, we cannot advise what it is called exactly as we do not run it here.

    This is causing the issues, uninstall it and dbpoweramp will work (the clone program inserts its self between dbpoweramp and all CD drives, if the driver is missing features then dbpoweramp cannot work).
    Hello. I've just got round to trying this and it didn't make a difference.

    Fortunately I have solved the issue now though. I had been connecting to the PC via remote desktop which had been blocking the detection of the drives.

    When I hook up a monitor directly to the PC it is able to detect the drives even with the virtual clone drive software installed and enabled. The virtual clone drive can even be selected as a drive in the software.

    Thanks for your help.

    I have the same problem with Dbpoweramp and the MacAir. I have not been able to run the debug and have no idea what the virtual drive is. Have you any advice on how to get DBpoweramp cd ripper to detect my Macbook air superdrive?

    Question Re: No CD Drive Found

    I have a similar problem: when I run CD Ripper as normal user (power user actually, Win XP SP3) the CD drive is not found, cannot do anything, it cannot read te CD, even cannot eject. but when I run the program as administrator, all is fine

    Here is the debug text, I pressed retry a few times, and opened and closed the CD drive (button on the drive):
    Using SCSI PassThrough [clCDDA::SetCommunication]
    ->-> [frmMain::RefreshTrackListing]
    Quitting Meta Thread: Quit
    ->-> [clCDDA::ReturnDriveList]
    Got drive C:\ ** not CD Rom, type: 3 [cddaSCSIPassTru::FillDriveList]
    Inquiry failed, trying larger buffer [cddaSCSIPassTru::GetDriveInfo]
    Inquiry failed, trying larger buffer [cddaSCSIPassTru::GetDriveInfo]

    Re: No CD Drive Found

    This is correct in Windows XP, starting with Windows Vista or above you do not need to be administrator to access the CD drive directly.

    Thanks for the clarification. Is there a way to grant a user sufficient rights without granting full admin rights? If so, I'll dig up my xp admin book

    The trouble is on co I think direct access to the cd drive is the same as direct access to a hdd, if I remember correctly.

    Re: No CD Drive Found

    CD Writer is unsupported now, we are not in a position where it can be updated to support new drives.
