    Truncated MP3 Files

    Spoon

I have been using dMC Batch Converter for years to convert my FLAC files into MP3 for portable playback.
Running 14 (now 14.3) in find a problem that about 20% of the converted files are truncated on playback. This is true regardless of player so it seems to be an issue with the files, though the file size looks okay.

    Set up:
    75,000 FLAC files
    Win 7 x64
    Intel i7-2600k
    8 GB RAM
dMC Batch Converter set to MP3 CBR, 320kbps
CPU Throttle set to x12 to stop overheating
    Conversion takes about two days

Is there something that I should be doing differently?

    Thank you.

One of the truncated files, convert it to wave and play it, it is truncated when dbpoweramp converts it?

Album with 12 tracks in FLAC
Three tracks are truncated in WAVE or MP3
      All are fine in FLAC
All original files ripped to FLAC by dBpoweramp
Four errormessages, the first two cause the truncation, third does not
      Encountered 'FLAC__STREAM_DECODER_SEARCH_FOR_FRAME_SYNC' in FLAC File
      Encountered 'FLAC__STREAM_DECODER_SEARCH_FOR_FRAME_SYNC' in FLAC File
      Encountered 'FLAC__STREAM_DECODER_SEARCH_FOR_FRAME_SYNC' in FLAC File
md5 did not match decoded data, file is corrupt.

So this looks like some corruption in the files which does not affect FLAC playback but impacts dMC.

The FLAC file looks to be corrupted, you can test with the offical FLAC.exe command line tools (flac.sf.net)

I have installed Flac.exe. The front end does not run. Using cmd I ran flac -t C:\Users\.... and received a message that Flac was not recognized as a program.
I agree, based on the message, that there must be corruption of the files.
Question: How can this occur? It is a huge percentage of a huge number of files. All ripped using dBpoweramp.
I believe the problem has been created (or made MUCH worse) in the latest version of dBpoweramp.
These files convert just fine in J.River and were just fine in previous dBpoweramp.

Is there anyway that I can get back the previous dbPoweramp?

          Thank you.

You possibly do not have flac exe downloaded correctly.

Files can corrupt by a HDD getting errors, try running a check disk on your hdd.

All previous versions of dBpoweramp would have acted the same, if you want dBpoweramp to act like J River (and ignore the errors), then there is an option in dBpoweramp Configuration >> Codecs >> Advanced

            to ignore flac decoding errors.

              OK, Spoon.
              I have switched off errors.
Thank you - I did not think to look in dBconfiguration.
