Frauenhofer encoder version
Some of our appliances play MP3 VBR rather miserably. It is why I intend to convert some WAV's to MP3 CBR (plane stereo).
I have come to believe that the latest version of Frauenhofer's encoder (2008) does very well, mainly because of including ABR techniques in CBR encoding. So I want to give it a try over Lame CBR (which is being tuned-up right now for v3.100).
The version offered in the dBpoweramp Codec Central is "Release 2a (Frauenhofer IIS v4.03)".
Could someone tell me if this indeed is Frauenhofer's latest? Or is it the surround Codec?
I tried to verify, of course, but always ended up gazing at the same Frauenhofer, Technicolor or dBpoweramp pages. By now I am kind of mesmerized.
Much obliged in advance for an answer.
Frauenman.

(frauenman telling himself) plane... will you ever learn... (strange misspelling of plain)

Re: Frauenhofer encoder version
It is quite an old version, from a separate branch to their later codecs.

Re: Frauenhofer encoder version
OK, it's clear then.
Many variations of the frauenhofer codec can be located, like on http://systemexplorer.net/file-datab...e/l3codecp-acm, but they all seem to be older ones.
Maybe I'll enable the frauenhofer professional edition (http://blog.komeil.com/2008/06/enabl...dec-vista.html)
that comes with Win MP11.
Thank you, regards.
