trouble with aif files & Tags

    Hi,

Using the dbpoweramp Configuration program I have updated everything -- I have dbpoweramp Reference 14.2 release, AIF Codec 11 --

    Windows 7 64bit OS.

I have never been able to add tags to my aif files. I can add tags to mp3, wav files -- I don't use other formats.

Also, is there a way to have itunes accept the wav file tags?

Do you know if I add the tags to aif files in itunes if there is any degradation of the audio information.

    many thanks, Stephanie

Adding tags does not degrade the sound quality.

What happens when you try to tag an AIFF file?

o.k. I know it has been a while, but I still cannot add tags to my aif files. In explorer, windows allows me to add the tags but then, they are not saved to the file.

    thanks again, stephanie

Install R14.4 from the beta section of the forum.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have upgraded to the latest version, but I cannot add tags to 24/96 aif files. I believe I can add tags to 16/44 aif files. Thanks, Stephanie

Perhaps these files have issues, convert from AIFF to AIFF then try tagging.

Will try that with high res files soon. thanks.

A couple of questions. 1. what does the conversion aiff to aiff actually do? does it do anything to degrade the sound? is it like resampling?

also, Does it matter which player is set as the default for the aif files? ie. if the default player like foobar does not allow tags for aiff files?

I am not sure foobar supports AIFF tags, I know for sure iTunes does, so you could test them in that. Converting Lossless >> Lossless (AIFF >> AIFF) doesn not degrade the sound.
