Trouble importing converted Wave files in Pro Tools
I have to import lots and lots of stereo WAV files into Pro Tools and since Pro tools isn't capable of accepting stereo files natively it has to convert the file into mono first. This can be very timeconsuming, so I came up with the idea to batch convert all the files into mono with Music Converter. This can be done overnight, so no time is lost during the day.
But unfortunately I'm having trouble importing the mono Wave files that have been converted by Music Converter into Pro Tools. Pro Tools states that the files are not BWAVE / AES31 compatible and in order to import them they have to be converted first. And thus killing my timesavings...
It looks like the WAV codec doesn't meet the AES standards quite right. Is there a way to make the WAV conversion of Music Converter fully Pro Tools compatible? Is there a seperate BWAVE Codec? Anyone else having the same problem?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Trouble importing converted Wave files in Pro Tools
What ID Tag is present in the stereo files? it sounds like pro tools will only import if there is a BWAVE tag.

Re: Trouble importing converted Wave files in Pro Tools
Wow... that's a quick response!
There is no ID tag in the stereo files, nor in the mono ones (or at least I can't find any). Is it possible to add a BWAVE ID-tag?

Re: Trouble importing converted Wave files in Pro Tools
Before you check on this, you are using the BWF encoder?

Re: Trouble importing converted Wave files in Pro Tools
No, I'm using the standard WAVE encoder. I don't want to encode into a lossy mp2 format (or am I missing your point here?).
Broadcast Wave Format (BWF or BWAVE) is nothing more than a standard WAV (PCM) file with timestamp added.

Re: Trouble importing converted Wave files in Pro Tools
In that case you want to write a bext tag, use the ID Tag processing DSP effect and add a tag with the name:
TimeReference
other tags which can be set are:
Originator
OrigReference
OrigDate
OrigTime
CodingHistory
