Does dbamp prefer or require certain media for burning?

I'm looking to burn audio CDs that a standard player can interpret. Do I need to use a particular style of blank? CDR vs CD R/W? Preformatted?

Most standard CD players nowadays will play most computer CD discs, but not CD-RW's (which store information a little differently than standard CDs.

But some players, especially older or cheaper models, may have problems with certain brands of basic blank computer CD's.
If a player can play MP3 or Windows Media format discs (discs where the audio is stored in MP3 or Windows Media format rather than standard audio CD format) the player should be able to read most any brand of standard computer CD discs.

If you are in any doubt, use blank discs that are labelled as Audio CD discs (or something similar). These discs are made to be in keeping with the CD standards for CD discs (which differ somewhat from standards for computer CD disks).

The other thing will be to make sure that you burn your tracks to standard audio CD format rather than as a "data disc" or MP3 or WMA disc (in which cases the burning software will format the disc to store and read computer files of your audio tracks rather than providing standard audio CDs.

    Hope this helps.

    Best wishes,

    Bill

To add to the above, and to provide a response that more directly addresses the original question:

dBpoweramp CD Writer does not have a preference for any one kind of CD disc over another, but your CD player might well (as outlined above).

Thanks for the complete answer, Bill. Will scout out audio CDs and use std audio cd format when burning.
