    AccurateRip v3 (Proposal)

AudioSAFE was launched a number of weeks ago, it allows for the online backup of audio tracks, with a difference: the service is free to backup, already AudioSAFE stores 1% of the worlds audio, in such a short space of time.

AudioSAFE will be the basis for AccurateRip v3, using AudioSAFE as the basis for verification has these advantages:
    • AudioSAFE will eventually contain more audio than AccurateRip (v1/v2), it will contain the whole worlds audio,
    • Verification can be done on a track basis, without the need for CD TOC,
    • Verification can be done without the need to offset correct rips.
    • Already ripped tracks can be verified.

Potentially error corrections could performed using a PAR2 style correction (we now have 100's of TBs at our disposal to handle the large amount of PAR recovery based on tracks not whole discs).

At this time it is a proposal, if you are a regular user of AccurateRip, try out audiosafe ( www.audiosafe.com ), your participation in cataloging the worlds audio will speed the adoption of AccurateRip v3

I'm really excited about AccurateRip V3, but all of the info I can find about it is from Fall 2011. Do you have any more information that you can share about V3, or a projected launch date?

We are actually implementing it right now as part of a product called PerfectTunes.

Great! How big is the AudioSafe/AccurateRip V3 database now? Last I saw you had calculated that it contained about 2% of the world's audio.

Are you considering switching the offset reference in this new specification to meet the absolute 0 that was discovered 5 year ago?

No, offsets make very little difference to verification.

Does that mean that offsets aren't going to be used anymore?

Because if you continue to use them, and are able to do cross verification (therefore the database is not affected) I wouldn't see the point in mantaining a reference that has been proved to be wrong.

Cross pressing verification means they are not a relevant as they once were, but for our use we sill need to reference to an offset, this value is not going to change.
