Order of DSP effects??

I am looking to convert a 5.1 channel, 24-bit/96KHz album to 2 channel 16/44.1

Does the order which the DSP effects are listed in the converter matter??

They are applied top to bottom, the order maters depending on what you are doing with them.

Alright, that's what I thought. So what would you suggest for my situation?

Do the bit depth change last, as you have the higher resolution 24 bit whilst doing the frequency conversion, channels and frequency does not matter which order
