    Learning more about Log Info

Hi, I'm new to this forum and am using DbPoweramp for a short time. I already did a lot of reading; first of all to get started and now to understand more about the rip-results. I've never dived into the ripping/encoding etc. stuff. Just used I-tunes. And because this is not my native language I have to read some information over and over again, to be able to apply it. So I hope you don't mind, that I do a posting of my own, using my own log-file.

    A.

    ~Tracks 1, 2 and 6 are with errors.
Is there a difference in how bad the error is? Can you learn that from the log-file? And if yes how? Does the ripping-process stop as soon as an error is inrepairable. If not and the ripping process of the track is finished, is it possible that the track sounds good anyway even if there is an error in it; depending on how bad the error is or how many there are in?

~Is it possible to change the settings to retry to get a secure rip. Or does this put to much stress on the drive?

~And finally, if the only option is to get the track anew and I therefor do a download. How will I know if there is no encoding info, that comes along with the download, that it is better, than my insecure rip? Again...just by listening?

    B.

    ~What does it mean:

    "Matched 10/11 (c2 dropped 5)"
    "Insecure (c2 dropped 47) [c2 best match]"

    From track 7:
    Re-rip Frame: 213911 (00:07:06,533) matched 10 / 11 (c2 dropped 5)
    Re-rip Frame: 214066 (00:07:08,600). Insecure (c2 dropped 47) [c2 best match]

Re: Learning more about Log Info

You currently have it set to stop trying to securely rip, once there is an unrecoverable error.

It depends on the damage and drive, if there error can be recovered by retrying more, sometimes a different cd drive can read through the errors, see the drive accuracy report in this forum for potentially better drives

Thanks for your quick response, considering that this looks like quite a busy forum. Is it like this; that after the unrecoverable error, the rip continues (because at the end I do have a track with sound from beginning to end), but that the securely ripping has stopped along the way?

Now I will first go on with the hundreds of CD's still in line to be ripped and encoded. And then I will see, what I'll do with the ones with errors. In the meantime I will keep on going through the posts to get more into all of this.

And thanks for all the work you put into this program! Helena

Pretty much yes (except that the whole track has already been ripped before it decides there are errors and a section must be re-ripped).
