Software will not save converted files

I started today with the trial version, which worked very well and quickly converted some m4a files I had to wav files so I could make DVD-A's. I was so happy with the results that I bought the reference version. When I attempted to do additional conversions following installation of the reference version over the trial version, the converted versions would not save, despite the appearance that the conversion process had been completed. I uninstalled everything, rebooted, then deleted everything other than the codecs and reinstalled the software. Still, the converted files will not save. There was a similar problem discussed previously, but there was never a clear solution indicated. What do I do next?

Here's a log file from one of my attempts:

Re: Software will not save converted files

Your file is too big to store as a Wave file, wave has a hard limit of 4GB, many software can only open Wave files of 2GB or less.

Split the file you have up. Then encode.

Re: Software will not save converted files

What I was trying to batch convert (m4a to WAV) totalled 1.08 gigs in 10 separate files (movements). I tried converting only one of the files, still won't save. I then went to the same set of files I successfully batch converted with the trial version (1.6 gigs in ten separate files) and got no save. I tried only one of the files (99 megs) and got no save. The 4 gig hard limit isn't the problem. Why would the trial version do what it's supposed to do and the paid version won't?

Re: Software will not save converted files

Looking at the log file, the Wave file seems to have written with a ~ 157MB size.

            There is no file at:

            G:\2496\05 Piano Sonata No. 4 in E flat major, K. 282 II. Menuetto.wav

            ?

No - nothing there, and a complete system search doesn't turn it up anywhere else. I'm baffled!

Something is deleting or moving the file and I do not think it is dbpoweramp, security software, or a media player looking for new files and moving them.

I'll systematically disable everything that runs in the background and run a short conversion after each. So as not to reinvent the wheel, could you tell me if any conflicts with other software have been identified already, and if so, what software? Thanks!

No anti-virus software should be touching Wave files.

                    See:

Monitor file system, Registry, process, thread and DLL activity in real-time.

This will list every file system change made, look at the end of the list for what happens to the wave file.

Re: Software will not save converted files

Thanks for the info. I've eliminated quite a few possibilities by doing this: batch converted all 10 24/96 m4a files to WAV and successfully saved to my laptop via my network, then dragged and dropped them onto the main PC (where dbpoweramp resides) and made a perfect DVD-A from them! Thus the converted files themselves aren't the problem - something is keeping dbpoweramp from saving the files to a HD on my main computer but not to the laptop. Antivirus, firewall, etc., are ruled out because I have the current Avast Internet Security on both computers. So on we go from here. I'll let you know how it goes.

Process monitor shows every save to be successful. Go figure.
