    Error running Music Converter

When using the context menu for any music file and selecting 'Convert To' I get a pop up with the message 'Error running Music Converter'.

I already uninstalled the program, used the reset all tool as described in the FAQ forum, rebooted and reinstalled the latest version with no luck.

    What next?

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Check that in the folder:

    C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp

    there is:

MusicConverter.exe, if there is try running it by double clicking it (you should get the select files dialog).

Yes, that's there and runs just fine. But not when using the right click from Windows Explorer. Today I found out that also nothing happens when I use the batch comnverter, select some files, and then click convert. Looks like the batch converter also can not find or start musicconverter.

It looks like some security software on your system is stopping other dBpoweramp programs from running musicconverter. As a test exit all security software you have.

I am using norton 360. Tried with firewall and virus scanner disabled, but am still having the same problem.

It could be the user account the programs are running in, try running in an account with Administrator rights (normally this is not needed, but if there is some policy enforced).

No luck, I am using an admin account already. Also turned UAC off completely to test, still getting the same error.

There is something installed on your system which is blocking dBpoweramp Batch Converter from running Music Converter, it cannot be in the code as the code is 1 line and works for millions of users.

I guess I'll never know what really caused this, but today I was finally able to fix it by restoring an old version of the windows registy.
