All mp3 files or only a few? Make sure you have no DSP effects, as a test let dbpoweramp create a mp3 file from a wave file, then convert back to wave to see if it works.

NO.... It's all files. No matter what I do..It shows a file size of 0 :( Is there something I am missing from the install ? It's not showing all the Codecs. Very few to choose from. I paid $56 for this program. I sure hope you can help me .

Try the test as I requested, convert a wave file to mp3 with dBpoweramp, then back to wave (note this is just a test).

I did that...Still not working. Does the same both ways. Missing some Dlls ...Maybe ? With another program I have... I had to place the Dlls in a folder called Sytem WOW. Can this be the problem ?:headbang:

Should not be as dBpoweramp is designed to work on 64 bit version of Windows 7.

The find out for sure what is happening, open dBpoweramp Configuration >> Music Converter and enable the Debug Option at the bottom of the page. Next do a conversion mp3 >> Wave and after the conversion Notepad will show the debug log. Copy and paste it to this forum thread please.

Re: Music Converter converts But...File says 0 size

It's not showing all the Codecs. Very few to choose from.
The install file for dBpoweramp Music Converter does not contain many codecs, (even for the full reference version). Rather than try to cram in as many codecs as possible (most of which are of little or no use to most users) the program is designed to allow you to download and install just those codecs you need. These can be downloaded and installeed from Codec Central (see link at the top of this page).

I'll leave it to Spoon to make out whether the Debug file has the clue to the source of your problem. I'm hopeful that it will.

                Best wishes,
                Bill

Re: Music Converter converts But...File says 0 size

                  Encoder Cmd Line: -compression="ACM" -bits="16" -freq="16000" -channels="2" -acm="55000200112B0000B80B0000010000000C00010002000 0009C0001000000" -wavemp3="-b 160"

This suggests you are converting to a ACM compression (within the wave file), you are also reading from and to over the network. To narrow the issue:

Copy the file to be converted to your local pc and convert from / to there (this rules out the possibility of the network share having a quota, or incorrect access rights).

Also convert to an uncompressed wave file (everything set 'as is', no frequency reduction to 16KHz). This would highlight wether the ACM codec is at fault.

If you are creating an wave file containing mp3, do not use the ACM option, rather the wave-mp3 option which uses dBpoweramps Encoder not the one built into Windows.

This may all be true..... But it still isn't converting . I moved a few of the music files over to my laptop & tried to convert again to no avail.:(
I uninstalled R14 off my desktop XP version because it woudn't convert on there either. I put R12.4 back on there & it works perfectly fine. In that version...I have an encoder called MP3. Not MPEG layer 3 as it is here. I wonder if that is the difference.
                    Still need help:cry:[

That is the issue, you are using the ACM codecs (which are built into Windows), try selecting 'wav-mp3' on the wave compression page.

OK...Tried the uncompression. This time it converted with all the same settings. Even has a size of 6.55 MB. Is that good ?

Wish I could use MP3 setting. But in this version R14....It doesn't give me that option. I wish I could show you a screenshot of the options I do have.:(

You have tried setting a lower bit rate?

                            See:

Q: I am missing options under Compressed WAV that I had in previous versions. A: Try either a 'Wave' compression and select Wave-Mp3 or install the LAME ACM codec here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/LAME_ACM_Codec.htm

but it still uses mp3 lame

YES... I have tried to use a lower bit rate . But then it gives me an error.
I really don't want to download from a site not dbpoweramp. Will there ever be an update to include MP3 in the format list ? I can't give up...cuz I paid a lot of money for this. I could convert with R12.4 on my desktop & send waves to my laptop..... But then I still won't be able to convert when I have the laptop away from home...Which is why I bought R14 in the first place.:(

I would then install R14 on desktop when it is working.
