PerfectMeta matching discrepancy between artist and album artist

I just noticed that the artist and album artist did not match when they should have.

The CD is Yazoo Upstairs at Eric's.

The artist was identified as Yazoo.
The album artist was identified as Yaz (In the US Yazoo is apparently known as Yaz).

AMG identified the artist as Yazoo, and the album artist as Yaz.
GD3 identified the artist as Yazoo, and the album artist as Yazoo.
FreeDB identified the artist as Yazoo, and the album artist as Yazoo.

Why did R14 pick Yaz when the majority, and correct, vote was Yazoo?

GD3 is part made up from freedb content so the two are not ranked together.

Re: PerfectMeta matching discrepancy between artist and album artist

      Ok, thanks for the explanation.

I found the same with a second Yazoo CD, freedb was 100% correct with all info, R14 used AMG data, and album artists and three song titles were wrong.

Feature request; a form of visual indicator when there are discrepancies between meta sources, that would make me review the content before ripping.

Press Alt + M after metadata is retrieved.

          That works, thanks.

Since the AMG service is indirectly paid for, how do we report errors?
E.g. I just noticed a mistake on an album, probably a data entry mistake, track name is a mixture of that track and the next track, CDDB was again correct.

Re: PerfectMeta matching discrepancy between artist and album artist

Was musicbrainz used? What did it say. Looking on the web it looks like it should have been Yazoo and Yazoo, which should have been a tie breaker...

I know there is no easy way to search discogs, but again, its a good source and I propose that using a first perfetmeta results could be used to search discogs, then the data could be used as a fifth source in perfectmeta to re-calculate the perfectmeta results.

I don't know if that is clear, so let me explain:

              1. Search AMG, GD3, MB, and freedb
              2. Calculate PerfectMeta Results
              3. Use PerfectMeta Results to search Discogs
              4. Re-Calculate PrefectMeta using MG, GD3, MB, freedb and Discogs

MB was not used (grayed out).

After ripping about 30 CD's now, and having to correct metadata on multiple occasions, with AMG data being preferred, and AMG being incorrect, and freedb being correct, I do not really see the value of AMG, especially since it is a paid for service?

I normally use Jaikoz to tag my music using MusicBrainz, and MB with acoustic id matching is very reliable.
Maybe acoustic matching could be added, that could make using MB as a data provider more viable.

Do you not have MB selected as a source?

Re: PerfectMeta matching discrepancy between artist and album artist

I did not make any changes to the default install options, so I assume it is enabled.

Depending on the CD, some sources are grey and some are not, I assumed it depends on if the CD was found or not.
E.g. on one CD AMG was the only source that had data, all other sources were grey (although I do know the CD is on MB since I can manually find it).

I have not seen any ability to assist with the match, e.g. manually enter a MB released ID. Such a feature may also be an interesting enhancement, i.e. submit CD info for manually matched albums.

In this case all providers had data, only MB was 100% accurate.

In another case I could submit data to AMG and CDDB.
In this case only AMG had data, but it needed correction.

Under what conditions can you or can you not submit?

Try adding a letter to the album title, then remove the letter, then submit.

I tried it, and it does not work.
Even if I change the album title, the submit buttons remain disabled.

I just ripped a CD where AMG was completely wrong, wrong title, and every track was wrong (CDDB was right).
After correcting the information, the submit to AMG was still disabled?

You would have to manually type something as you cannot submit from gd3 to amg.
