    Unhappy Can't install WHS connector!

I'll start this thread by stating that I'm an anal retentive idiot, so there isn't any confusion. By that I mean that I like to have computers as clean as humanly possible, I usually delete excess files, uninstall unused programs, and turn off unused Windows features. In this case I did all of that and now I can't install my copy of WHS connector...so I obviously screwed something up!

What is necessary on the RipNAS for a successful install of WHS connector? I found out that Asset UPnP is required, so I reinstalled that, but I've turned off everything in the "Add/Remove Windows Components" and I've deleted everything from the shared "Software" folder. Can someone help me with what and how to put back on the RipNAS without completely formatting it?

You install the WHS Connector onto your PC, not the RipNAS.

That's what I've been trying. It finds the server just fine, but then it goes to the dialog where it says "downloading software from server 0%" and fails.

It is likely your security software which is blocking the download.

Really!? So there aren't any files that have to be in the shared software folder on the RipNAS to install WHS connector on my PC? Also, are there any other programs or windows features that are needed on the RipNAS other than Asset UPnP for the install?

Yes the install files should be in \\Ripnas\Software\Home Server Connector Software

if they have been deleted it would stop the connector.

    Same as mine here.

Couldn't install WHS connector on my computer (win 7 64bits)

However, I can browse my Ripnas and find nothing in software folder, just SqueezeboxSever7.5.2 ??

So what should I do now?

    Thanks

And one more quick question about Ripnas I just got a few days.

It comes with no "Ripnas" logo at front. Is it normal? Or I miss something?

Mine is black with 1TB HDD and bought from mo-co-so.

This is the exact path you need:

    \\RIPNAS\Software\Home Server Connector Software

    Normally there is a logo.

    Thanks Spoon for your answer.

That means I can browse Ripnas folder and can see Home Server Connector software in the Software folder?

I've tried "\\RIPNAS\Software\Home Server Connector Software" many times but my computer couldn't find that software. Also can't see it in the software folder.

Like I said before I can see just only Squeezebox software.

Is Win 7 64bit the reason for this issue? I don't have any other computers to try.

BTW, the "Ripnas" logo on the front plate is a sticker or what? Why I don't have that logo on my Ripnas? Just blank front plate.

    Thanks in advance.

I've also ran Connector Troubleshooter and it showed

"The version of the Connector software does not match the version of Windows Home Server "

Unhappy Re: Can't install WHS connector!

    Just got Ripnas
I cannot connect to WHS. Windows toolkit indicates 4 errors:
    1. The version of the connector software does not match the version of Windows Home Server
    2. Cannot connect to the server's secure internal website
    3. Name resolution failed
    4.UPnP discovery failed.

I tried remote desktop since couldn't connect via supplied CD but it indicates that password provided ripnas=123456 is invalid.
    HELP!
    Thank you

Smile Re: Can't install WHS connector!

Please disregard my previous post; I was finally able to get on via the remote desktop connection and everything is working fine. :smile2:
