MusicBrainz Identifier (MBID)

Hi,

In CD Ripper, the Options -> Meta Data Options dialog allows you to include the "CDDB Disc ID" in the tags written to a file.

Is there any way of also automatically adding the MusicBrainz Identifier (aka MBID) to the metadata being written when a CD is ripped?

(Obviously this would only be available if the user has purchased PerfectMeta).

If not, can this be added as a feature request? It would be incredibly handy to be able to store the MBID, given it is becoming a de facto webscale identifier for music data.

The BBC are using MBID for their webscale IDs:

Last.FM also store MBID:

Would be handy to retrieve and store as a tag when querying Musicbrainz, as then we have a reference to the bigger metadata stores on MB, Last.FM, BBC.

I would agree with this becoming an option; MB isn't perfect, but it's an open project that should be around for a long time.

I have asked for these before and seems it would be an easy addition. IMHO, more meta-data is always better.

I would like this as well.
It is also used by the SqueezeCenter TrackStat plugin to keep track play statistic after a file move or rename on the server.

I'm adding my vote for MB support:
- Compute acoustic ids.
- Embed track and album ids.
- Manually select an album from MB, and have that metadata used, this is especially useful in cases where no auto matches are found from other providers.

I also urge you to at least make the MBID an option as you do with CDDB. There are many things that could make it useful and the data seems generally cleaner than CDDB. Thanks
