Unhappy Windows media player cannot play files...

I'm new to using RipNAS. My first cd I tried ripping will not play in WMP in Windows 7. I get the error message "Windows media player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file". I used the WMA 10 setting in RipNAS on my WHS but clicking on any of the tracks produces no sound. WMP shows the file type as wma. I tried reinitializing WMP but it had no effect. Should I be using some other codec?

By default Ripnas rips to FLAC, which WMP cannot play.

I did not use FLAC. I used WMA 10 to encode and when I see the file type in Media Player, it shows wma but WMP can not play the songs.

Try an mp3 file as a test.

Not sure what is wrong, as a final 'go' try setting the option to supply all the formats you are using as LPCM (mp3 as LPCM),
